Boston Dynamics | Changing Your Idea of What Robots Can Do22:08 1970年日本機器人專家森政弘提出”Uncanny Valley恐怖谷理論“，當機械人外在形體不斷地往人類的樣態方向演進，必然會經過一個使人產生心理變化的過程。當機械人的形體慢慢趨向於人類，同時會經過一段恐懼害怕的心理狀態，好感度會急遽下降；而當跨過其中的低點時，又會快速提升，進而對機械人產生移情作用。這個理論同時也能用在目前許多遊戲或是動畫3D人物的製作中。
21:44 影片中大量使用到靈感來自於自然的藝術家或者設計師作品。這張椅子叫Ant Chair(蟻椅)，設計於1952年，形狀就像片中所示如同螞蟻的樣子，由丹麥現代主義設計/建築代表人物Arne Emil Jacobsen(阿納·雅各布森)所設計，被收錄在丹麥設計博物館100件椅子設計中。Jacobsen除了建築作品外，同時有許多傢俱、燈飾設計的代表作。

Studio Olafur Eliasson透過此片我才知道「人類世」這個名詞。它是由1995年諾貝爾獎得主保羅克魯岑所提出。保羅克魯岑認為，人類的活動對地球造成的影響，足以成為一個新的地質時代。2009年成立的人類世工作小組，從地層中挖掘出包含人造放射性同位素、塑膠、鋁製品、殺蟲劑和水泥等，這些非自然產生的物質形成新的地質型態，顯示人類對地球留下的地質痕跡。目前學界對於人類世開始的時間點沒有共識，有人認為是18世紀末人類活動對氣候及生態造成全球性影響，也有人認為是1945年首次進行原子彈試爆開始。 丹麥導演傑普朗德找來十位世界頂尖的科學家以及機器人，各自闡述我們與科技的關係；演員史蒂芬佛萊沉穩的英腔旁白貫穿全片，用字遣詞優美，搭配冷冽又詩意的畫面，循序漸進帶領觀眾從人類慾望、機器人到人工智慧，宏觀地拋出哲理性的提問。你看完後或許和我一樣，感覺似乎領悟什麼？又好像沒有。接著你可能會像我忍不住重看第二次。

我決定挑幾部讓我「動心」過的片子。這份片單的五部作品，都曾帶給我在工作之餘，像是開後門一般，被震動的經驗。它們的形式／題材／語言文化都不同，卻可以組成一個「我」，組成「張硯拓」這個人在大銀幕與小螢幕的一張「感知」的地圖。
Let us imagine the future through multiple perspectives: quantum physics and human consciousness, robots and humans, love and relationships, gene banks and the apocalypse, social networks and surveillance, nuclear fusion and artificial suns, climate crisis and geopolitics, eugenics, and extraterrestrial intelligence. Though this program is titled The Future Is Near, perhaps the future has already arrived. The more important question is: Are we ready?

I hope these stories through time stir something in you too — or even spark a question: What might a lifetime truly taste like?
In 2019, the impact of COVID-19 fueled a surge in virtual concepts, sparking waves of discussion around the metaverse and beyond. But is technological advancement truly humanity's only path forward? When the physical body is no longer essential, where do we go from here? The balance between the virtual and the real is a question the entire world must confront—together.
In psychology, divergent thinking refers to the ability to approach a problem by generating multiple possible solutions, rather than narrowing in on a single answer or getting stuck in a fixed mode of inquiry. Its opposite, convergent thinking, relies on existing knowledge and traditional patterns to arrive at a conventional conclusion. I love watching documentaries—especially those that explore issues far removed from everyday life. A good documentary, like a good book, condenses an enormous amount of insight into the span of a film. Through a director’s lens and structure, you come to know a person, a group, or an event, and gain valuable nourishment in the process. It’s an incredibly efficient form of learning. Thanks to the nature of the internet, learning today is no longer linear. It’s multidirectional, multidimensional—a practice of divergent thinking. As a well-known writer once said:"The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function." In a time where eclectic knowledge and self-learning have become the norm, a thirst for understanding and a passion for living mean we’re no longer limited to holding just two ideas —we hold many.
