For the first time ever, the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston (TFFB) is hosting a virtual edition in collaboration with Giloo, offering audiences across North America a new way to experience the festival. This year, the TFFB team has curated a selection of ten films—a poignant mix of short films and one animated feature—that explore the intimate, often fragile dynamics within families. Seen through the eyes of children, women, and the elderly, these stories delve into emotional landscapes shaped by absence, silence, duty, and love. Together, these works offer a layered and unflinching portrait of family—not as a fixed ideal, but as a space of negotiation, resilience, and transformation. Many of the featured filmmakers are women, whose voices bring depth and urgency to questions of identity, care, and emotional survival. This program invites us to reflect on what we inherit, what we choose, and how we carry those choices forward.
