After losing his mother, a boy and his father are plunged into sorrow. By chance, he meets a strange old man while fishing. The old man lives alone, his wife and the boy's mother having both passed away from illness. The two kindred spirits become close friends. Through fishing, the boy gradually emerges from the grief of losing his mother, and the old man, accompanied by the boy, escapes the loneliness of old age.
