"Ultimately, we judge the character of a society not by how it treats the rich, the powerful, and the privileged, but by how it treats the poor, the condemned, and the incarcerated. It is at that intersection that we truly begin to understand something profound about who we are."
— Bryan Stevenson, American human rights lawyer

Why We Are Making This Film?
"I hope to use cinema to tell a story that engages the audience, and within the film, raise a concern for humanity, subsequently guiding viewers to consider the true function and meaning of the death penalty.
I want the audience to understand that even the most heinous of the condemned must be treated and discussed from the perspective of being human. This is the fundamental attitude with which a mature civil society approaches such issues.
Beyond understanding the circumstances of individual cases, I hope the audience can also develop a more macroscopic understanding of the death penalty; through these life stories, I hope viewers can see the universal, unresolved problems that exist between people, society, and institutions."
— Chia Hua Lee, Director

Story Synopsis
Zheng Yixiu's father, Zheng Wusong, murdered his ex-wife—Yixiu's mother. Zheng Wusong was sentenced to death, a verdict now final.

Daughter B’s father was implicated in a gang rivalry, charged with instigating murder, and was also sentenced to death.
On this particular afternoon, Zheng Yixiu, Daughter A, and Daughter B meet.
