📷 The Camera Follows the Flow of Time

In 2012, at the age of 40, Maleonn invested his life savings to create  the Studio Mobile project. He transformed a truck into a traveling studio, journeying across China to take dreamlike yet realistic portraits of strangers, free of charge. Ten years later, Maleonn was determined to relaunch the project, photographing the same people again to capture how their lives had changed over the decade.

However, with the sudden outbreak of Covid-19, all plans were put on hold. During the pandemic, life’s upheavals condensed all his roles—new father, husband, son, boss—forcing him to face the reality behind his identity as an artist.

Holding his camera, Maleonn himself became the sole subject of a decade’s worth of change.

Support HIt the Road, and help us preserve time together.

What began as a tribute to ordinary people gradually turned into an artist’s self-reflection. This is a journey of memory, farewell, and renewal—an effort to hold on to fleeting moments of real life. In a world where everything moves too quickly, are we still willing to save space for the moments worth remembering?
