From Pitch to Screen | A CCDF Documentary Selection
Every documentary begins with a pitch—a single sentence, a fragment of footage, an unfinished idea spoken aloud on a stage, met with both scrutiny and anticipation. CCDF (Chinese Doc Forum) is precisely such a starting point, a place where ideas are given the chance to be seen. This collection brings together works that were once presented on the CCDF stage, and which went on to complete the long journey of filming, editing, and finally reaching an audience. What began as a single pitch was shaped and refined over years, becoming images that could truly be watched, discussed, and remembered. Through this curation, we hope to look back at the long, often unseen distance each of these works traveled—from being pitched to being finished. That distance is, perhaps, the most honest and most difficult journey a documentary filmmaker undertakes.
