Before Seeing Freedom: Plain Law Movement Online Film Festival
Period of Martial Law began in 1949 and lingered in Taiwan for nearly 40 years. While maintaining the overall situation, legal, political, and military forces have also left indelible scars in society. Martial law was lifted in 1987, but the scars will not recover automatically. We should always look back and remember how those painful memories led us to freedom. Taking this as a theme, we selected four Taiwanese films to describe the suffering and impact of Martial Law. Also, the classic Blind Chance by Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski was chosen to present how human beings are at a loss for fate under the cross-national totalitarian rule.
法律白話文運動是由期待台灣擁有法律專業媒體的法律人所組成的。我們來自不同地方、擁有不同專長，但都有個心願——透過白話文的方式傳播法律知識，改變台灣的法律文化。法白的使命，就是希望能促成法律人與社會大眾溝通，不只告訴大家如何思考法律議題，更希望能讓社會大眾感受到自己的聲音與主張被聽見，也被法律尊重。

Encore, Before the Goodbye
"My Bucket List" holds no grand dreams, only 100 little things yet undone, and a "see you tomorrow" that was never properly spoken. The same goes for "Encore: Before Saying Goodbye"—here, eternity is left unmentioned; there is only the desire to perform one last song for oneself before the lights go down. The scars of youth, the terror at the edge of the boxing ring, the wordless closeness between strangers, and the farewells quietly practiced in daily life—six films, each rehearsing the very same question: If only an encore remains, what sound do you wish to leave behind?
