為 Jimi Hendrix 等搖滾明星打造「生殖器模型」—— 奇人藝術家 Cynthia Plaster Caster | 樂手巢 YSOLIFE在離開披頭四之後，約翰藍儂跟美國的基進人士頻繁聯繫對談，逐漸左傾，創作〈Power to the People〉這種帶有工運色彩的歌曲，在1971年搬到紐約後更甚，寫〈Woman is the Nigger of the World〉、以詩人社運份子John Sinclair為歌名……，反戰加上反尼克森的立場，讓他被美國政府拒絕給予永久居留權，並計畫限制其入境。這段期間英國媒體對他的奚落也不曾少過，斥其沒有好好做音樂，走精（tsáu-tsing）鎮日不務正業。
Cameron Crowe最為人所知的身分其實是導演，他在2000年拍攝了半自傳性質的電影《成名在望》，講述一個年輕樂評記者跟著搖滾樂團巡演。由菲利浦·西摩·霍夫曼飾演的剛左樂評Lester Bangs做為主角威廉的導師，滾石雜誌的資深記者Ben Fong-Torres則是威廉的編輯。片中虛構樂團Stillwaters可以看到許多當時當紅樂團的影子，像有些片段就取自Cameron Crowe跟The Allman Brothers Band的巡演相處日常。Cameron Crowe後來的好幾部片《香草天空》《伊莉莎白小鎮》也都使用了大量的搖滾樂。
Monterey International Pop Music Festival於1967年加州蒙特利舉辦，也是Jimi Hendrix吉米罕醉克斯和The Who（台譯：何許人）等英國音樂人於美國的初登板，Jimi演奏了許多曲目，包括巴布狄倫Bob Dylan在65年發行的搖滾歌曲〈Like a Rolling Stone〉，這首歌當年讓原本追捧狄倫的民謠樂迷感到不滿，斥其為叛徒。Jimi Hendrix的演出來到最後高潮，他對著自己的吉他不斷淋灑燃油，然後放了把火，最後再將吉他摔個粉碎，整個過程吉他都還持續接在音箱上，隨火焰發出奇異的聲響。
